Hey Everyone! If anyone here are still using The Galaxy SII and want it have the latest Android OS here is the solution. With these steps you can can updated your device by yourself without the need of going to Mobile Shops which they sometimes charge money(Well at least here in Myanmar they do).
Requirements:
- Fully charged Galaxy S2 smartphone or at least about 80% charged (It is really Important)
- USB data cable(Also Samsung Mobile USB driver must be installed if not get here)
- Laptop/computer
- Risk – Sometimes unfortunately, things may not work well and your phone might be bricked or might stop working. So proceed at your own risk. But if u follow the steps carefully there is no problem.
Let's Get Down to Business
1.Download I9100XWLS8_I9100FOPLS3_FOP.zip firmware file from here or here. The first link is resume supported (you can use Internet Download Manager also to download XWLS8 jelly bean firmware for galaxy s2, because it’s a big file about (approx.) 541mb) whereas the second link is of Hotfile. Both links direct to the same file but Hotfile does not support resume unless you r a paid user.2.Download ODIN for Galaxy S2 from here.(It is necessary for update and rooting)
3.Extract files from step 1 and 2 in appropriate places
4.Turn off your phone
5.GO to Download Mode on your phone by pressing volume down + home + power button together.
It might not work directly in the first time.Watch the video below if you are having trouble with it.
6.Connect phone to computer via USB cable.Install the USB driver that you downloaded earlier if you haven't.
7. Back up important data and settings on phone using Samsung Kies or Moborobo.(Just in case, you can never be too sure right?).You can also use recommended custom recovery tools such as ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP, as it creates a complete image of the existing phone setup.
8.Ensure that USB Debugging mode is enabled on the phone navigating to Settings > Developer Options (if the device is running on Android 4.0 or later) or Settings > Applications > Development (if the phone is running on Android 2.3 or earlier).
9.Launch ODIN program(That is the program that you downloaded earlier in step 2).When the phone connects successfully, one of the ID: COM boxes indicates yellow with the corresponding COM port number
10.In ODIN, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. In case of the Re-Partition option, enable it ONLY if a .pit file is chosen in the previous step.

11.Hit on PDA button and browse to the extracted firmware folder(file from step 1) and select the file – I9100XWLS8_I9100XXLS8_I9100FOPLS3_HOME.tar.md5.
12.Hit Start button.Wait for a few minutes. After successful completion of firmware upgrade process, ODIN will display PASS message.
13. The phone will reboot. It’ll take a lot of time for everything to be setup.
14.In most cases, it won’t wipe anything. All your apps, data, files remain intact and safe, but in some cases, it may do a factory reset automatically.(You might feel lags and errors when on your first start.)
15. Go to phone settings and about phone. Check if the new firmware version 4.1.2 is indicated there i.e. in Base-band version (I9100XXLS8),Android Version(4.1.2).
16.Work on your phone for sometime. Then restart your phone by turning it off and starting again.Let the phone start successfully. Have patience..
17.Now after sometime, start operating your galaxy s2 phone. This time, you won’t feel lag of any kind and everything will work flawlessly.
18.Now you have official Jelly Bean 4.1.2 installed on your Galaxy SII.
